COMFORT HOLE 2018
This project redefines the popular concept of the “comfort zone” by transforming it into a space of intentional confusion and introspection. The installation features a monumental, three-meter-long hammock crafted entirely from paper, with an intricately woven opening—the “hole”—at its center.
By inviting the audience to physically surrender to the structure, the work encourages a symbolic “fall” into the unknown. This transition from the familiar (the comfort zone) to the unfamiliar (the hole) is designed to help the viewer find their internal steerage and reclaim a sense of inner self-agency. Comfort Hole functions as a sensory filter, where the fragility of the paper material contrasts with the weight of the human experience, prompting a deep, meditative encounter with one’s boundaries and potential.
