THE Aphrodite Project 2022–2025
The project combines archival practices with elements of participatory art, creating a polyphonic narrative about the experience of womanhood and its transformations within the global, multicultural context of the dynamic technological, social, and ideological shifts of the 21st century. It is an open document of “archeology of the future,” constructed through the testimonies of women who, within its framework, share their personal reflections recorded in the form of photographs and audio recordings. The project is international, inclusive, and evolving—it has been carried out at major institutions such as the Center for Contemporary Art, Wozownia Gallery, the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, the American University of Cyprus, The Mother’s Milk Art Residency Programme in the USA, and the Libken e.V. Art Residency in Germany, but also in peripheral cultural centers where it took the form of a multimedia exhibition. The interactive, responsive, and random “Afrodyta” project panel was created thanks to a Scholarship from the European Funds KPO dla Kultury – Katarzyna Łyszkowska
The subjects receive digital files of the photos from the session free of charge, in exchange for consenting to the presentation of their image and the quotation of their thoughts exclusively within the framework of the artistic project. In the agreement form, I assure them that the photos will never be used for commercial purposes.
